How long is the warranty?

Most brands offer a 1-year manufacturer warranty. Or you can register for an extended warranty.

How cold does it actually get?

Most units cool 18–20°C (32–40°F) below the surrounding room temperature. In a normal 75°F room, the inside usually reaches around 40–50°F. It will not get as cold as a regular household refrigerator, especially in hot environments.

Is it noisy? Can I use it in a bedroom or dorm room?

Most models claim ≤28 dB and are described as very quiet by many users. However, some people still notice a light fan hum in completely silent rooms. Light sleepers may find it slightly audible.

Can I use it in the car? Will it drain the car battery?

Yes. Most units come with both AC (home) and 12V DC (car) adapters. It works well while the engine is running. Leaving it plugged in with the engine off for long periods can drain the battery.

Does it have a heating / warmer function?

Yes, most are dual-function (cooler + warmer). Heating mode typically reaches 122–149°F (50–65°C). Useful for warming drinks or baby bottles.

How long does it take to cool down?

An empty unit usually takes 1–3 hours to reach its lowest temperature. Pre-chilled items cool faster. A full load takes longer.

Does it produce condensation or need defrosting?

Yes, condensation is common. Wipe the interior regularly. Most models are manual defrost (no auto-defrost function).

Can I leave it plugged in 24/7?

Yes, it is designed for continuous use. But we recommend occasionally unplugging it to help extend the lifespan.

Does it have temperature control?

Most models only have a simple Cool / Warm switch.

Does the back of the unit get hot?

Yes. Leave at least 3–4 inches of clearance around the unit for proper ventilation.

Is it suitable for skincare, cosmetics, breast milk, or medication?

Many people successfully use it for skincare products and short-term breast milk storage. For medication or longer breast milk storage, performance can be inconsistent in warmer rooms.

Troubleshootings

  • Is the power cord securely connected and the mode switch correct?
  • Is there at least 3 inches of clearance around the unit?
  • Is the door closing properly and the seal clean?
  • Have you cleaned the rear fan and vents?
  • Is the room temperature very high?
  • Have you wiped away excess condensation or ice?
Why is my mini fridge not cooling or not cold enough?

Common causes and solutions:

  • Make sure the switch is set to COLD (or Cool mode).
  • Ensure the power cord is fully plugged in and try a different outlet.
  • Check that the door is closed tightly and the seal is clean.
  • Leave at least 3–4 inches of clearance around the back and sides for proper ventilation.
  • Clean dust from the rear fan and heat sink.
  • Avoid placing warm items inside — pre-chilled items cool better.

Note: These units only cool about 18–20°C (32–40°F) below room temperature. In a hot room (above 80–85°F / 27–29°C), performance drops significantly. This is a limitation of thermoelectric technology, not necessarily a defect.

The unit is completely dead — no lights, no fan, nothing happens.

Check both ends of the power cord.
Try a different wall outlet.
Test with the car (12V) adapter if available, or vice versa with the AC adapter.
If it still doesn’t power on, the internal power board or cooling module may have failed.

Why is the fan so loud?

Check for dust or debris blocking the fan and clean it carefully (unplug first).
Ensure there is enough clearance around the back of the unit.
Make sure the unit is sitting on a flat, stable surface.
A light humming sound is normal. Very loud noise usually means the fan is failing or obstructed.

There is water / condensation / ice building up inside.

This is normal for thermoelectric coolers due to temperature difference and humidity.

Unplug the unit and leave the door open to let ice melt.
Wipe the interior completely dry with a soft cloth.
Clean the door seal regularly.
Reduce how often you open the door, especially in humid environments.
Wipe the inside once or twice a week to prevent excess moisture.

Important: Never use sharp tools to scrape ice — this can damage the interior.

The unit worked fine at first but stopped cooling after a few months.

This is a relatively common issue with these budget thermoelectric units. Possible causes include:

  • Failed power board components
  • Aging cooling module
  • Fan failure due to continuous operation and heat

If the unit is still under warranty (usually 1 year), contact the seller for a replacement. After the warranty period, repair is often not cost-effective.

The heating (warm) mode is not working well.

Make sure the switch is fully set to the Warm / Hot position.
Allow 15–30 minutes after switching between Cool and Warm modes.
Heating performance is generally weaker than cooling performance on these units.

Performance is much worse in summer or in a hot room?

This is expected. Thermoelectric coolers can only maintain a fixed temperature difference below the surrounding air. When ambient temperature is high, the internal temperature will also rise. Moving the unit to a cooler location or improving ventilation can help.
